San Pedro de Pelileo, Tungurahua

The Foundation Arte del Mundo is located at 15 minutes from Pelileo is a wonderful valley town in Central Ecuador, just south of the equator, sitting at  Tungarahua Province.  It is known for its beautiful sceneries, abundant greenery and gastronomy. Pelileo is known as one of the bibbest production of clothes.
Although we are located near the equator, it is by no means constantly hot. At an altitude of 2600m (5000ft) Pelileo enjoys a wide range of weather patterns. There is an Ecuadorian adage that says all four seasons can be experienced in one day. The weather can shift from rain, to cold, to sun, to clouds all in the span of a few hours, so volunteers are advised to pack clothes for all types of weather. Layers and waterproof items will prove invaluable. Average temperatures can range from 75°F (15°C) to 30°F (-1°C).
There is a diverse sel
ection of restaurants, making it easy to accommodate all diets. The locals are welcoming and friendly, and are always glad to help out.
The local currency is USD, and Spanish is the native language. All necessary amenities can be found in Patate. There is a public hospital and private clinics, a post office, banks with ATM's, and some travel agencies. Transportation is easy and inexpensive. With a bus or a taxi you can get anywhere you want to go.
