Price of Goods
Prices in Banos are relatively cheap. An average meal will cost somewhere between $3.50 and $ 8.00. A coffee and or a tea will go for $1.50, where as a Pilsner Grande (local beer, 600mL), will cost about $2.20. The cake here displayed (available next door at Arome, and highly recommended by previous volunteers) costs $1.50. Fruits and vegetables are very affordable as well: a pineapple costs anywhere between $1-$2. Two avocados will sell for $1, as will a pound of strawberries. Cosmetics, such as deodorant, toothpaste, sunscreen and soaps can be pricey, if they are not products commonly used by locals. Entry to the thermal baths cost $1. Pharmaceuticals are generally cheaper in Ecuador, although the prices are similar to those in Europe and the US.
Price of Services
Services are also pretty cheap. A doctor's appointment cost approximatively $25. A taxi ride to anywhere within Banos costs less than $1, and about $100 to or from Quito. Whitewater rafting costs about $15 per person, and a four day jungle tour costs $200. There are options for camping, costing $15 a night (breakfast included). Bikes can be rented for more or less $5 a day. A half-day zip lining adventure (lunch included) costs $15.

Many people who came through FAM had good things to say after their stay with us. here are a couple of examples:
- "Their prime focus is operating a children's library (La Biblioteca Interactive de Baños) and offering ongoing classes, workshops and events in all aspects of the arts, language and literacy that will serve toward building self-confidence and vision within the cultural context of the region".
- On TripAdvisor.
- "The Fundacion Arte del Mundo is not the place to work if you just need to check off 'Did something nice for others on my backpacking vacation'. It is an organization founded to create connections between people from diverse backgrounds and cultures."
- On WorldWinder.
- "I loved developing relationships with the children and with the other volunteers, and would highly recommend volunteering with FAM".
- On Trip180.
- "My favorite part of Ecuador was, unsurprisingly, volunteering at La Bib, and especially the quiet reading time with the kids at the beginning of each afternoon".
